Deliveroo Aims to Install Virtual Kitchens Internationally

Deliveroo founder Will Shu wants to replace consumer kitchens with “cloud” or virtual kitchens, that can be set up anywhere for a fraction of the cost of restaurant kitchens, reports Forbes. In addition, leaked investor slides reportedly reveal Deliveroo’s plans to cut down food costs by launching its own food offerings.

Trials of these kitchens, called “Deliveroo Editions,” have popped up in London, France, and Dubai, where restaurateurs are invited to sell their food on the app under their own brand. The company plans to expand these kitchens internationally, using prefabricated “Roo Boxes” and converting low-cost spaces into delivery hubs. Full Story
