Impossible Foods is expanding sales of its Impossible Sausage to restaurants nationwide. Food distributors such as DOT, Sysco, US Foods, and others will now carry the plant-based sausages at warehouses through the U.S. In addition, Impossible Foods teamed up with Yelp to curate a list of top diners across the country which will be the first independently owned restaurants to feature the Impossible Sausage.
This launch is due to the unprecedented consumer demand for the sausage product. “We launched Impossible Burger in 2016 at America’s best restaurants, when consumers were just starting to get a taste for Impossible products and few realized that plant-based meat could outperform animal analogues in taste, nutrition and convenience,” said Impossible Foods’ founder and CEO Dr. Patrick O. Brown, in a statement. “By the end of 2016, we had expanded to a grand total of four restaurants. By contrast, Impossible Sausage went from zero to 20,000 restaurants in the first half of 2020 alone—a clear bellwether for growth and a warning to incumbent meat producers.”
