Website Aims to Support Local Restaurants

A new initiative, SaveTheEats, is working to support restaurants that are struggling or have closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. SaveTheEats offers deals on food, gift cards, and experiences like a pasta making class in New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Minneapolis-St. Paul, Baltimore, Los Angeles, and Austin. Each city has its own dedicated page where customers can go to learn more.

According to SaveTheEats’ website, 100 percent of every purchase goes directly to the related business. In an FAQ, founders Anthony Bucci and David Bookspan said, “We originally created a single site to help support the Philadelphia food scene we love. We then realized that replicating the effort with more volunteers in other cities could make a broader national impact. We are backing it with time and personal funding. We get zero financial benefit from it. We don’t touch any money.”
